Winter Breaks

Bridge Park, self catering holiday cottage is an ideal place to be in the depths of winter.  Walking up the frozen beauty of the glen in the still silence of the crisp, sweet air; or looking at all the stars clearly visible in the night sky. If you forget your warmest clothes there is the Killin Outdoor Centre and Mountain Shop in the village with a full range of winter clothing, walking/climbing  equipment that is run by enthusiasts who have a fund of local knowledge and will be able to advise you.

Trossachs National Park

In the Trossachs National Park there is an active winter sports industry including skiing and snowboarding or you can make your own fun with the traditional sledging and snowball fights!

After a cold day on the snow you can come back and relax in a bath full of piping hot water and then toast your toes (and bread too if you enjoy hot buttered toast) in front of the open log fire or just luxuriate in the arms of the central heating.

There is satellite TV, a host of DVDs to entertain you during the long winter evenings.  Or you could listen to the radio, however BBC Radio 4 on 198 long wave is the only option  in the glen I’m afraid. However satellite TV also gets all the radio stations  and there is also free, unlimited download Wi-Fi in the cottage.

Then again you could pop out the the pub—the Bridge of Lochay is a few hundred yards away at the bottom of the glen and the Falls of Dochart Inn at the other end of the village, you are sure of a warm welcome and good food.
